Mr. Hoàng Trung Hải, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, visits Hanoi University of Industry

On 29th October, 2016, Mr. Hoàng Trung Hải - Member of Political Bureau, Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee paid a visit to HaUI.

At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Tran Duc Quy – HaUI Party Secretary and Rector, gave a comprehensive report on HaUI’s activities and achievements in recent years. According to the report:

- Enrolment: Despite low enrollment rate in other universities, HaUI still manages to maintain a student body of 40,000 per annum.

- Meeting the market demand for highly trained workforce: In the academic year of 2015-2016, the university cooperated with more than 2,000 corporations and enterprises. In 2015-2016, the university successfully organized conferences and employment fairs with the participation of nearly 50 Vietnamese and international enterprises, creating nearly 3,000 job opportunities for students. As a result, approximately over 18,000 application forms for various positions were given to more than 9,000 students. According to the 2015 survey results, 81% of HaUI students managed to acquire a job within 6 months of graduation. Furthermore, in the academic year of 2015-2016, information technology continued to be utilized to develop testing procedures to assess students’ learning outcomes independent from teaching activities. This is aligned with the goal of ensuring accuracy and objectivity, to establish a computerized quality management system for tertiary education.

- Scientific Research: In the academic year of 2015-2016, HaUI employed effective methods for encouraging scientific research, technology transfer with great success.

- International cooperation: HaUI’s Boards of Management have made great efforts to attract domestic and foreign investments. The university continued to develop partnership with prestigious international institutions and engage in various student and teacher exchange activities and academic activities. Furthermore, the university has provided training and supported training activities for institutions of the Laos People's Democratic Republic. Currently, 300 Laotian students are studying at HaUI.

- Financial and Investment Management: The university has effective utilized its resources to increase revenue, improve the staff’s income and gradually reduced dependence on the state subsidy.

- Human resources development: the university has paid special attention to teaching staff development, with the goal of increasing the rate of staff with doctoral degrees to 25% by 2020.

-Development of Communist Party bodies: HaUI Party Committee has been recognized as “An Outstanding Party Committee” by Hanoi Industry Sector’s Party Committee. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Đức Qúy, HaUI rector proposed and made recommendations to Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Hanoi’s Authorities on the renovation of campus A in order to improve its teaching and learning quality, with a focus on learners and to make Hanoi city cleaner and more beautiful.

In response to those recommendations, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoàng Trung Hải asked departments and authorities of Bac Tu Liem district, Hanoi to cooperate with the university to study the matters comprehensively, make proposal, take necessary actions and make detailed reports on the issues. Moreover, he highly appreciated and praised HaUI significant achievements in human resources training and development, scientific research, and trainings of teaching staff and scientists. He also stated that HaUI’s leaders have displayed good judgement on the demand of market and our society for human resources and have stepped in the right direction in the era of globalization and integration.

With regards to the development of HaUI in coming years, he said that the university should maintain a balance between expanding its multidisciplinary courses and focusing on its strengths. He expected that HaUI’s team of professors and scientists would improve their abilities and creativity and make positive contributions to the development of Hanoi.
