The future of Business Data Analytics in the Digital Age

We are entering the digital era with an increasing demand for storing and exploiting data sources (Big Data). Becoming a data analyst or taking positions related to the field of data analysis is an important job for any organization or business.

Big Data is one of the four most important platforms of the 4.0 technology revolution along with the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain. Big Data is known as huge data, a large and diverse information resource, requiring cost-effective forms of information processing, to enhance decision-making and process optimization. In other words, Big Data is a huge data file that cannot be analyzed using conventional tools and software. The importance of big data does not lie in the amount of data we, it’s what we do with it.

Most businesses and organizations will use big data analytics to find answers to questions related to cost reduction, time reduction, new product development, optimizing services and making smart decisions. When big data analysis is fully supported, people can do a good job of identifying the root causes of failures, creating reasonable promotions based on customer habits for their business, calculating the risks encountered, detecting fraud before it has an impact.

As a branch of Data Analytics, Business Data Analytics is an interdisciplinary discipline between information technology and economics. It deals with collecting, exploiting, managing and processing data sets - Big Data from which to make judgments and predict future operating trends. Business data analytics may include exploratory data analytics, confirmatory data analytics, quantitative data analytics, and qualitative data analytics (with a focus on data such as videos, images, and videos, documents, etc). This is meaningful and crucial work for any organization or business, especially in the fields of banking, finance, investment, insurance, tourism, defense, aerospace, medicine, etc.

Some people wonder about the future of Data Analytics under the influence of science and technology. However, the reality has shown that automated data analysis systems are being put into use in many companies, but it has not been able to fully meet the needs of users. According to some studies, 80% of work cannot be automated; the remaining 20% can be done by machine but the efficiency is not high. Furthermore, machine learning can only solve simple problems. More complex problems require human thinking to solve. Therefore, Data Analytics will not disappear even as technology evolves.

Data Analytics is considered the "real sexiest" job of the 21st century. The two reasons are salary and job opportunities.

Salary of Data Analysts

According to Glassdoor (a world-famous American recruitment website), the average salary of a data analyst is about 84,000 USD/year, meanwhile in Vietnam, this figure is also over 470 million VND/year (approx. 20,000 USD/year). According to statistics of TopDev (a reputable recruitment platform in the IT industry in Vietnam), this level of income is well above the average, which makes data analysis an attractive profession and voted the "sexiest" profession of the century.

Knowing about the average data analyst salaries in different countries ahead of time can be helpful, especially if you’re thinking about relocating, especially if you are thinking of becoming a global citizen.
