HaUI announces new research group model to drive innovation and technology transfer
On the morning of January 6, 2026, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) held a ceremony to announce the decision to establish 01 Strong Research Group and 11 Potential Research Groups. This event marks a pivotal shift in the University’s strategy for science, technology, and innovation, realizing the goals for the 2026–2030 period: transitioning to a group-based research model, increasing high-quality international publications, and accelerating technology transfer.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Rector of HaUI, acknowledged the robust development of science and technology activities in recent times, clearly demonstrated by the quantity and quality of publications, particularly international ones. He emphasized that the Party and State have identified science, technology, and innovation as key drivers and resources. Consequently, higher education is no longer merely a place for knowledge transmission but must truly become a hub for knowledge creation and technology transfer. The 2026–2030 period is a critical journey wherein HaUI must focus intensively on innovation, targeting high-quality international publications while expanding cooperation and technology transfer.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc highlighted the University's commitment to accompanying the research groups throughout the implementation of this new model. HaUI will proactively refine operational mechanisms, enhance infrastructure conditions, and provide professional support. Simultaneously, the University will strengthen domestic and international connections to help groups expand their academic networks and access research projects and resources.
Concurrently, HaUI is committed to systematically addressing constraints related to international databases, authorship collaboration protocols, and publication incentives. These measures aim to ensure immediate operational readiness, empowering research groups to generate tangible, high-value scientific contributions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Son expressed her belief that with the attention and direction of the University Board, the professional companionship and effective management of the Department of Science and Technology, and the spirit of cooperation among units, HaUI's research groups will gradually affirm their role as academic nuclei, making practical contributions to the scientific reputation and long-term development strategy of the University.

According to the decision, HaUI has established 01 Strong Research Group and 11 Potential Research Groups, covering key research directions such as: additive manufacturing and smart precision machining; advanced materials; wireless communications; control and data processing; design and mechanical machining using advanced technology; sustainable development in the digital era; education, linguistics, and society in the digital context; AI applications in language and education; and biochemical material technology.

HaUI leadership extended congratulations to the teams while underscoring the necessity of "hitting the ground running" to generate tangible scientific outcomes. Envisioned as a catalyst for innovation, these groups are expected to elevate HaUI’s global publication record and technology transfer efficiency, thereby cementing the University's academic prestige throughout the 2026–2030 strategic phase.
