HaUI Youth spreads compassion at Blood Donation Festival

In response to the 2025 National Voluntary Blood Donation Day with the message “Millions of Hearts, One Vietnamese Bloodline”, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) joined hands with the Red Cross Society of Ha Nam Province to organize the blood donation festival at the university’s Ha Nam campus.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hong Quan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council, actively participated in the donation, setting an inspirational example.

The event drew overwhelming participation from a wide spectrum of the HaUI community, including staff members, faculty, and students from various academic programs. Together, they contributed nearly 1,000 units of blood - a remarkable show of collective goodwill and civic responsibility. Each unit donated represents a potentially life-saving gift to patients in need, and a symbolic act of unity and compassion that transcends individual boundaries.

Beyond addressing the pressing blood supply shortages in hospitals, the festival became a heartfelt manifestation of the university’s deep-rooted values - kindness, empathy, and solidarity. It was more than just a medical contribution; it was a celebration of humanity in its purest form.

First-year students showed great excitement and readiness in joining the life-saving activity

The origin of this meaningful day dates back to the year 2000 when, in response to the World Health Day on April 7, themed “Safe Blood Starts with Me,” the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 43/QĐ-TTg encouraging nationwide voluntary blood donation and designating April 7 as the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

At that time, Vietnam collected only 236,000 units of blood, with just 30% from voluntary donors. Thanks to 25 years of continuous awareness efforts, the country has made remarkable progress. By 2024, over 1.7 million blood units were collected annually, with 98% coming from voluntary donors. Since the initiative began, nearly 22 million units of blood have been donated nationwide - a more than sevenfold increase compared to the year 2000.

The “Compassionate Rainbow 2025” event at HaUI contributes to this remarkable national movement and plants seeds of compassion and social responsibility in the hearts of its young generation.
