Improving population quality begins with building awareness and healthy lifestyles among the young generation. With that goal in mind, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) organized a talk show titled “Understanding Yourself, Living Confidently Every Day” on October 17 at its Ninh Binh campus, offering first-year students valuable knowledge to help them shape a positive and healthy university life

This event was an engaging educational activity and a practical contribution to realizing the goals set by national resolutions on population and reproductive health education. It directly supports the objectives of forming systematic knowledge and skills on population and reproductive health among young people, reducing by two-thirds the number of unintended pregnancies among adolescents and youth, and innovating the content and methods of health education both inside and outside the classroom.

Entering university marks a major turning point in life. For many freshmen, it comes with excitement but also anxiety as they adapt to new ways of learning and social interaction. Understanding this, the talk show gathered leading experts who provided insights, addressed common concerns, and encouraged students to embrace self-awareness and self-care as part of a confident, balanced lifestyle.

Dr. Tran Tho Nhi from Hanoi Medical University opened the session with the topic “Understanding Yourself, Living Confidently Every Day”. She emphasized the importance of self-awareness from a scientific perspective, highlighting that health must be viewed holistically - encompassing physical, psychological, emotional, social, and even spiritual well-being. According to Dr. Nhị, “A healthy body is the foundation of a strong mind, and a strong mind is the key to effective learning and future success.”

The second session, led by Dr. Vu Minh Phuong, a well-known consultant of the “Window of Love” program on the Voice of Vietnam Radio, focused on “Protecting Reproductive Health - Self-Protection Skills in the School Environment.” With her open and relatable style, Dr. Phượng provided essential knowledge about adolescent physical changes, sexually transmitted diseases, and safe contraception methods, helping students gain a realistic understanding of sexual health and personal responsibility.

A highlight of the event was the hands-on session on condom use, which received enthusiastic participation from the audience. This activity helped break social taboos, encouraged open dialogue, and fostered a stronger sense of responsibility among students toward protecting both their own health and that of their partners.

Through this meaningful and practical event, HaUI reaffirmed its commitment to holistic student development, nurturing academic excellence and physical and mental well-being, while empowering young people to live confidently, responsibly, and healthily in modern society.
