“Warm Winter in the Highlands”: HaUI youth writing stories of kindness in Tan Mai

The “Warm Winter in the Highlands” volunteer program organized by Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) took place in Tan Mai Commune, Phu Tho Province, from January 20 to 22, 2026. More than a charitable journey, the program carried not only material support but also the aspirations for meaningful contributions and the heartfelt dedication of young people. A total of VND 230 million, together with compassion and solidarity, was delivered, reflected in the hopeful eyes of local residents and students.

Throughout Tan Mai Commune, the presence of HaUI student volunteers reflected a spirit of responsibility and service. Distinct from short-term charitable activities, the 2026 program was implemented with a focus on sustainability and practical impact. The initiative prioritized long-term solutions aimed at addressing essential needs in infrastructure and education within the local community.

Key program components included:

• One youth project involving the construction of a clean water well
• Two “Lighting Rural Roads” infrastructure projects
• Two 50-inch smart televisions to support teaching and learning activities
• 160 gift packages for students and 20 for policy beneficiary families
• Total value: VND 230 million

Accompanying students throughout the program, Dr. Nguyen Van Thien underscored that HaUI’s engagement in such initiatives reflects not only its social responsibility but also its educational philosophy. He emphasized that experiential learning through community service plays a vital role in shaping students’ character, reinforcing the principle that knowledge attains its true value when applied to improve the quality of life.

The “Lighting Rural Roads” initiative was also officially handed over, contributing to enhanced infrastructure and safer living conditions in the commune.

According to Mr. Do Minh Hien, the successful implementation of these projects reflects the collective contributions of HaUI’s faculty members, staff, and students. The program not only provided immediate support but also contributed to the development of sustainable community values, transforming the spirit of volunteerism into tangible and long-term benefits.

Representing Tan Mai Commune, Ms. Ha Hue Ngan, Vice Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front and Secretary of the Commune Youth Union, expressed sincere appreciation for HaUI’s support, noting that the program has effectively addressed several pressing local challenges.
