Pressure Makes Diamonds - The Journey of Transformation from a 'Rough Gem' of Nguyen Minh Hieu
Nguyen Minh Hieu - a handsome alumnus of Hanoi University of Industry - is a familiar face in the event MC community in Hanoi. To achieve the successes he enjoys today, Minh Hieu had to confront numerous pressures, and through hard work, he managed to transform himself and leave a lasting impression on the audience, becoming an MC/journalist for VTC News.
Hieu was a computer science student at Hanoi University of Industry, He embarked on his path to becoming a professional host from ground zero. Like many other young MCs, he chose to participate in competitions to hone his skills and self-confidence.
However, Minh Hiếu's journey encountered quite a few obstacles. He shared, 'In his first competition, Hiếu had the misfortune of breaking his arm and had to be hospitalized just before the competition began. Competing with a mindset like a blank sheet of paper, I had to put in double the effort to learn about the profession, how to write MC scripts, and many other aspects. I'll never forget the memory of staying up all night writing the script (with only one functional hand) in that very first competition.

Afterward, He began to immerse himself in hosting shows to get acquainted with the professional MC environment. Minh Hiếu tested his skills with a variety of programs. During his initial foray into the hosting profession, he encountered considerable pressure when not receiving recognition from some of his peers.
When he heard negative comments about himself, He felt a bit disheartened. However, he couldn't allow himself to dwell in those negative emotions for long. Hieu began to seriously reevaluate his shortcomings and find a suitable hosting style, in order to subsequently prove to those who once doubted him that they were wrong, Minh Hieu shared.
Through hard work and a love for the MC profession, Hieu transformed the pressures into motivation for success. Instead of drowning in disappointment, He chose to focus on developing his skills and knowledge. Gradually, He made significant progress in his hosting, style, and approach, which in turn earned him more opportunities.
After a period of learning and honing his skills in the industry, Hieu decided to test his mettle on a big stage, which was the National Television Station VTV. Minh Hiếu shared, 'When I decided to audition for VTV, I didn't have high hopes because there were up to 1000 applicants, many of whom had much more experience than me. However, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call informing me about the casting for the program "Cà phê sáng" on VTV3 channel, which meant I would have to compete directly with many seasoned faces in the television and event industry. And wonderfully, luck once again smiled upon Hieu. This was an opportunity that he deeply appreciated and cherished.
Minh Hieu continued his affinity with television by successfully passing the casting rounds and becoming a reporter for VTC News and Hanoi Radio and Television. In the early days, the young man also faced many challenges in the new environment: 'In a short period, Hiếu had to adapt to presenting news with 30-40 pieces of news at once. His cue-reading skills were slow at that time, while each piece of news was limited to just two shots. At the same time, he had to ensure that he read accurately, released the words correctly, and appeared as comfortable and confident as possible.
Working in a high-pressure environment, the young MC had to find his own hosting style. Hiếu shared, 'I spent time studying my field deeply, leveraging my abilities, and at the same time, finding ways to eliminate existing weaknesses. Additionally, I accepted invitations to host as many programs as possible, thereby developing diverse perspectives and different hosting styles. Finding my own unique strengths helped me express my personality and host more smoothly and seamlessly.
