FAIR 2025: A Leading academic forum on digital transformation and emerging technology trends
On August 21st and 22nd, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) became the epicenter for a pivotal intellectual gathering as it hosted the 18th National Conference on Fundamental and Applied Information Technology Research (FAIR 2025). The conference convened the nation's leading minds in information technology under the timely theme of "Digital Transformation and Future Trends," reaffirming FAIR's stature as Vietnam's premier academic forum for shaping the future of technology.
Overview of the conference
The event was co-organized by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and Hanoi University of Industry. The conference aimed to create a space for knowledge exchange, the announcement of new research findings, and the enhancement of collaboration to discuss the opportunities and challenges within the context of the national digital transformation.

Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Thi (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Head of the Organizing Committee
In the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Thi (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Head of the Organizing Committee, emphasized FAIR's role in the context of Vietnam's push for innovation. He pointed out that the greatest current challenge is the explosion of big data and AI-generated misinformation. He called upon the Vietnamese IT community to actively develop solutions to mitigate the negative aspects of technology, protect users, and ensure social safety.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, delivered a speech at the conference
Representing the host institution, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, expressed his belief that the conference would serve as a meaningful forum for sharing knowledge, research outcomes, and innovative ideas in the field of information technology. He affirmed that hosting this event is both an honor and a responsibility for HaUI, reflecting the university’s commitment to fostering academic exchange, advancing digital transformation, nurturing young researchers, and expanding international collaboration in IT research and development.

The plenary session was the academic centerpiece of the conference, featuring two in-depth keynote reports:
"Towards Ultra-Low-Power, Secure, and Smart IoT Devices" was presented by Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu (Director of the VNU Information Technology Institute). The report analyzed three core challenges for next-generation IoT devices: ultra-low power consumption, effective security, and edge intelligence, while also introducing technological solutions under research.

Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Tu, Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, delivered his presentation
"Digital Transformation and Smart Systems" was presented by Dr. Nguyen Nhat Quang (Director of the VINASA Institute of Science and Technology). The report provided a systemic conceptual framework for digital transformation, clarifying the relationship between the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation, and the green transition, and distinguishing the fundamental differences between digital transformation and computerization.

Dr. Nguyen Nhat Quang, Director of VINASA Science and Technology Institute, delivered his report at the conference
Beyond the high-level discourse of the plenary session, the academic heart of the conference was manifest in its extensive parallel sub-sessions. A remarkable total of 112 scientific reports were presented across seven concurrent tracks, showcasing the sheer breadth and depth of the research landscape within Vietnam's IT community. These sessions delved into critical and timely domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, and Cyber Security, reflecting a strong alignment with global technology trends and national strategic priorities.
Representatives of the FAIR 2025 Organizing Committee presented the hosting flag to the successor host, HCMC University of Industry and Trade
