Hanoi University of Industry and ACCA expand strategic partnership in Accounting and Finance education

With nearly 800 students enrolling in ACCA-integrated programmes each year and the largest number of lecturers in Vietnam supported in pursuing ACCA qualifications, Hanoi University of Industry is steadily affirming the quality and international orientation of academic programmes in accounting, auditing, and finance.

Overview of the working session

On May 14, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, chaired a working session with Mr. Ren Varma, Head of Mainland Southeast Asia at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). The meeting reviewed key achievements midway through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions and discussed strategic directions for the next phase of cooperation in internationally integrated professional education.

Since formalising the partnership in 2018, Hanoi University of Industry and ACCA have implemented a wide range of impactful initiatives aimed at enhancing educational quality and professional readiness for students. Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc highly appreciated the strong support from ACCA in improving teaching and learning quality across economics-related disciplines. As the first university in Vietnam to establish an On-Demand Computer-Based Examination (ODCBE) centre, Hanoi University of Industry has created favourable conditions for students to access international professional certification pathways with comprehensive academic advising and transcript conversion support.

The Accounting and Auditing programmes at Hanoi University of Industry currently integrate six ACCA core subjects, including Business and Technology, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Audit and Assurance, Performance Management, and Financial Reporting. Over the past three years, 213 students from Hanoi University of Industry have taken ACCA examinations in Financial Accounting (FA) and Management Accounting (MA), with 110 students successfully earning ACCA certificates. Notably, nine students have passed more than five ACCA papers, moving significantly closer to completing the full ACCA qualification pathway.

In addition to strengthening student development, Hanoi University of Industry has attached great importance to the professional development of academic staff. Forty lecturers have been supported in pursuing the Certificate in International Financial Reporting (CertIFR), further strengthening teaching capacity and advancing academic standards in accordance with international professional practices.

During discussions on future cooperation, Mr. Ren Varma highly commended the strategic vision and proactive approach of Hanoi University of Industry in advancing international integration and enhancing the quality of higher education in alignment with global standards.Both sides agreed that the next phase of cooperation should focus on developing Accounting and Finance programmes closely aligned with internationally recognised professional certifications. The initiative is expected to further improve training quality, strengthen graduates’ competitiveness, and expand career opportunities for students in both domestic and international labour markets.

In addition, ACCA committed to providing updated international learning resources and expanding support policies for lecturers and students throughout the learning and certification process. Particular attention will be given to supporting a core group of five to ten outstanding students in progressing toward full ACCA qualification completion. At the same time, ACCA will continue to strengthen cooperation with Hanoi University of Industry in student recruitment communications, career development activities, and professional engagement programmes.
