Hanoi University of Industry and Son La College strengthen cooperation in education, research, and digital transformation
The recent transition of Hanoi University of Industry into one of Vietnam’s national university systems marks a significant milestone in its development journey, reaffirming its position and expanding its role within the country’s higher education landscape. Building on this new institutional model, Hanoi University of Industry held a strategic working session with Son La College on May 8, 2026, to advance cooperation in education, scientific research, and digital transformation.
The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Nguyen Van Thien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, and Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, Secretary of the Party Committee and Principal of Son La College.

Overview of the meeting
At the working session, representatives of both institutions discussed a broad range of cooperation initiatives aimed at enhancing academic quality and human resource development. Hanoi University of Industry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Son La College in implementing articulation pathways from college to undergraduate level, thereby creating greater opportunities for students to continue their studies within a modern and comprehensive academic environment. The University also expressed its readiness to collaborate in postgraduate training and professional development programs for lecturers and academic staff.

A major focus of the discussions was cooperation in training programs for students from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Both sides agreed to strengthen coordination in this area, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources while further deepening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Viet Nam and Laos, particularly in border localities.
In the field of scientific research and innovation, Son La College expressed its desire to promote technical creativity and applied research among students and lecturers. The institution proposed closer collaboration with Hanoi University of Industry in robotics research and development, including expert mentorship and support for participation in major technology competitions. Both institutions also agreed to pursue joint research projects with strong practical relevance to local socio-economic development in Son La Province.

The two sides further discussed expanding cooperation in administrative reform and digital transformation. Under this partnership, experts and lecturers from Hanoi University of Industry will provide direct support in the application of digital technologies and modern governance solutions to improve institutional management and operational efficiency at Son La College.
With the extensive network of enterprise partners, Hanoi University of Industry also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Son La College students through internship, practical training, and employment opportunities in international markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Germany. These programs are expected to help students strengthen professional competencies, broaden international exposure, and develop the skills required in global working environments.

As part of the working program, Hanoi University of Industry also organized an admissions and career orientation session for more than 400 Lao students currently studying at Son La College. The session provided practical insights into academic pathways and career opportunities, helping students better define their future educational and professional goals. Both institutions agreed to formalize their partnership and further broaden cooperation in areas that contribute to community development, regional connectivity, and the sustainable growth of the Northwest region and the country as a whole.
