HaUI honors outstanding scientists and enterprises on Vietnam Science and Technology Day
“A university’s reputation should not be measured solely by its scale of enrollment, but by the intellectual value embedded in its scientific research, the number of patents it creates, the technologies it develops, and its tangible contributions to the economy.” This statement was highlighted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Chien, Director of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development, at the celebration of Vietnam Science and Technology Day held on May 15, 2026 at Hanoi University of Industry.
Advancing Research and Innovation Capacity
In 2026, Hanoi University of Industry continues to reinforce the position through notable achievements in scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation. With more than 1,300 lecturers and staff, alongside 12 strong and emerging research groups, the university is steadily developing an open academic environment that encourages the transformation of knowledge into technological solutions serving industry and socio-economic development.

Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, emphasized that scientific research at the university must move beyond purely theoretical approaches and focus more strongly on practical applications and measurable impact.
Through 17 key research projects currently being implemented, HaUI aims to maximize the intellectual potential of its academic community while strengthening cooperation with National Foundation for Science and Technology Development and industry partners to transform research outcomes into practical technologies and innovative solutions for national development.
Honoring Scientists and Enterprise Partners
As part of the celebration, Hanoi University of Industry paid tribute to enterprises and scientists whose outstanding contributions have significantly advanced scientific research, technology transfer, innovation, and academic development at the university.
Sharetech and Goertek Vina were recognized for their enduring partnership and meaningful contributions to training, collaborative research, technology transfer, and innovation initiatives in cooperation with HaUI.
The university also honored four distinguished scientists for their academic excellence and research achievements: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ba Phong from the School of Languages and Tourism; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Tan from the Postgraduate Training Center; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huong Quynh from the HaUI Institute of Technology; and Dr. Nguyen Huu Sau from the Faculty of Basic Sciences.

Fostering a Culture of Knowledge, Innovation, and Scientific Commitment
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Chien stressed that science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation are no longer optional pathways but essential drivers of sustainable development. He emphasized that universities today must move beyond their traditional role as institutions for knowledge transmission to become centers for generating new knowledge, developing core technologies, fostering innovative enterprises, and nurturing a new generation equipped with creativity, aspiration, and a spirit of innovation.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Ngoc Chien highly appreciated HaUI’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its science and technology ecosystem, expand enterprise collaboration, and develop high-impact research groups. He also described the recognition of scientists and enterprise partners as a meaningful initiative that contributes to cultivating a culture of respect for knowledge, innovation, and scientific dedication. He further affirmed that National Foundation for Science and Technology Development will continue supporting HaUI in mastering strategic technologies that serve national priorities and long-term development goals.

Representing the enterprise partners, Mr. Do Duc Anh, General Director of Sharetech, noted that cooperation with HaUI researchers has enabled the company to gradually master several core technologies, improve productivity, and strengthen its competitiveness in the international market. According to him, these achievements reflect the effectiveness of HaUI’s practical and industry-oriented research strategy.

On behalf of the honored scientists, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ba Phong, Vice Principal of the School of Languages and Tourism under Hanoi University of Industry and a scholar ranked among the world’s top 100,000 most influential scientists for three consecutive years, shared that HaUI’s open research environment, together with the flexible funding mechanisms provided by National Foundation for Science and Technology Development, has empowered researchers to pursue ambitious scientific directions and approach international academic standards.
