HaUI and Nanning University strengthen strategic partnership in education and research
On 26 May, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), welcomed a delegation from Nanning University (China) for discussions aimed at expanding strategic cooperation. The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), establishing a framework for long-term collaboration in academic programmes, scientific research, and innovation.
The partnership focuses on two strategic priorities: developing high-quality joint academic programmes and strengthening collaborative research in emerging fields that support the digital economy.

At the meeting, HaUI shared an overview of its institutional development and academic strengths. Building on 128 years of educational excellence, the University operates under a modern governance structure comprising five constituent schools: the School of Foreign Languages and Tourism, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, the School of Economics, and the School of Information and Communications Technology. A distinctive feature of HaUI is its industry-engaged education model, supported by an extensive network of thousands of enterprise partners in Viet Nam and abroad. Strategic collaborations with leading technology companies, including Foxconn, Luxshare, and Goertek, provide students with extensive opportunities for practical training, internships, and career development while ensuring academic programmes remain closely aligned with industry needs.

Building on the strong alignment between the two universities in engineering and technology education, HaUI proposed several flexible collaboration models, including a 2+2 dual-degree programme, 3+1 and 3.5+0.5 study pathways, as well as a tripartite cooperation model involving both universities and corporate sponsors.
The two universities also reached an agreement in principle to launch a 3+1+1 integrated bachelor's–master's programme. The programme is designed to provide a seamless academic pathway, enabling students to complete three years of undergraduate study at Nanning University, one year of exchange study at HaUI's School of Economics, and, subject to meeting graduation and admission requirements, continue directly into a one-year master's programme at HaUI.
The discussions also explored the establishment of a China–ASEAN Cross-border Research Institute for the Digital Economy, which would serve as a joint research platform focusing on the digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI). Both institutions agreed to work towards a flexible governance framework that complies with the legal and regulatory requirements of both countries while promoting effective research collaboration and academic exchange.
Mr. Li Dongxue, President of Nanning University (China), speaks at the meeting
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) establishes the first formal framework for cooperation between the two institutions. Moving forward, HaUI's External Affairs Department and School of Economics will work closely with Nanning University to develop a detailed implementation plan for the proposed China–ASEAN Cross-border Research Institute for the Digital Economy and other collaborative initiatives.
The agreement represents a significant step in expanding academic exchange, joint research, and international collaboration between the two universities. It also reflects Hanoi University of Industry's continued commitment to strengthening global partnerships that foster innovation, knowledge exchange, and sustainable development.
