HaUI strengthens international academic exchange through new energy vehicle workshop

The “New Energy Vehicles” Academic Exchange Workshop, held at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) from August 24 to 27, 2026, provided a platform for participants to explore emerging trends in the automotive industry while strengthening academic connections among lecturers, students and international experts. The workshop also opened up opportunities for deeper collaboration in education, research and technology transfer.

The workshop was opened on August 24 at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, HaUI, bringing together nearly 60 experts, lecturers and students from Nanjing University of Technology, China, Thuy Loi University, and Hanoi College of Foreign Languages and Technology.

As the global automotive industry moves rapidly towards electrification, clean energy and smart manufacturing, academic forums such as the “New Energy Vehicles” workshop highlight the growing need for higher education to stay closely connected with technological developments, labour market demands and global knowledge networks.

Speaking at the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dat, Deputy Head in charge of the External Affairs Department of HaUI, emphasised that the development and research of new energy vehicles has become an inevitable direction for the automotive industry. “The workshop provides a valuable opportunity for us to exchange ideas, learn from one another and share experience in this field,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dat said.

As part of discussions on future cooperation with Nanjing University of Technology, HaUI proposed expanding regular academic seminars and conferences, promoting faculty and student exchanges, and pursuing joint research in areas such as electric vehicles, battery energy systems, charging technologies and smart manufacturing.

These areas are closely aligned with the evolving demand for highly qualified engineering professionals. International academic exchange provides opportunities to bring new knowledge, technological developments and practical industry perspectives into the university environment, thereby strengthening the links between education, research and industry.

For HaUI students, the workshop provided an opportunity to engage directly with international experts, lecturers and peers. Discussions on electric vehicles, new energy technologies and smart manufacturing helped broaden students’ understanding of emerging technological trends and the knowledge, skills and professional competencies required of future engineers.

The participation of Nanjing University of Technology, with its established strengths in engineering and technology education in China, provided a valuable opportunity for the two sides to share academic resources, exchange knowledge and expertise, and identify potential areas for joint research.

The workshop also contributed to strengthening HaUI’s engagement with the international academic community, particularly in emerging technologies that are increasingly influencing the development of the automotive industry.

The workshop provided a basis for the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, HaUI, and its partner institutions to further explore cooperation in academic exchange, joint research and international education.

Through sustained academic dialogue and professional exchange, HaUI continues to expand international academic engagement and strengthen opportunities for collaboration in emerging automotive technologies. These efforts also contribute to the development of engineering graduates with the knowledge and competencies needed to respond to the transition towards greener and more sustainable automotive technologies.
