HaUI strengthens partnership with Korean Institutions to expand career opportunities

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international collaboration in education and workforce development, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) welcomed a delegation from the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and professors from leading Korean universities on June 16, 2026. The visit focused on assessing the academic and laboratory capacity of the School of Chemical Engineering while exploring opportunities to develop training programs that prepare students for employment in the Republic of Korea.

The meeting creates new pathways to employment in the Republic of Korea for students of HaUI's Faculty of Chemical Technology

The meeting was attended by representatives of External Affairs Department, the Faculty of Chemical Technology, and faculty members responsible for academic affairs. The Korean delegation comprised senior representatives from KCCI HRD, together with professors and specialists in chemistry, semiconductor engineering, and technology transfer from the Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH) and Soonchunhyang University.

The visit was conducted within the framework of the High-Skilled Foreign Technical Workforce Training Program, an initiative led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) of the Republic of Korea. Following the successful implementation of the program's first phase in electronics at HaUI, the second phase, scheduled to commence in 2027, is expected to expand to semiconductor design and chemical engineering. As part of the visit, the delegation toured the laboratories and teaching facilities of the School of Chemical Engineering to evaluate the infrastructure supporting practical education and research.

The Korean delegation conducts an on-site assessment of the Faculty of Chemical Technology's laboratory facilities

A key objective of the visit was to assess the school's educational capacity and laboratory facilities as the basis for designing a standardized training program aligned with the requirements of Korean industry. The proposed program is expected to comprise 500 hours of training, including 300 hours of specialized technical instruction and 200 hours of Korean language education. Designed for final-year students and recent graduates, the curriculum aims to strengthen professional competencies while enabling participants to become familiar with industrial equipment and workplace practices before entering the Korean labor market.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phạm Thị Mai Hương, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology, highlighted the faculty's academic strengths and research capacity. The faculty currently enrolls more than 1,600 students in six specialized disciplines and has the highest proportion of academic staff holding doctoral degrees or associate professorships at HaUI, exceeding 70%. The faculty has also made significant contributions to international research through a growing portfolio of scholarly publications and applied research outcomes.

During the discussions, both sides reaffirmed the importance of developing practice-oriented education that responds to industrial needs. The proposed curriculum will be designed in accordance with the school's existing facilities while ensuring that students acquire the technical competencies required to operate modern equipment in professional settings.

The partnership is expected to provide Chemical Engineering students with broader access to international career opportunities. Early exposure to advanced technologies, industry-oriented training, and Korean workplace practices will strengthen graduates' professional readiness and competitiveness in the global labor market.
