“Rainbow of Kindness 2025” at HaUI: Young generation raises awareness of a safe blood source
On the morning of September 17, the Youth Union of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), in collaboration with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, organized the voluntary blood donation festival “Rainbow of Kindness 2025.” This meaningful event successfully collected more than 700 units of blood, marking a vibrant milestone in the university’s ongoing journey to nurture humanitarian values among its students.
Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Rector of HaUI, joined in donating blood at the “Rainbow of Kindness 2025” festival
The festival brought together hundreds of students, lecturers, and staff who joined hands in a collective effort to promote the value of every drop of blood.
“Each donation can save lives - and that’s something every student should be proud of,” shared a student volunteer, eyes shining with determination. “Participating in this campaign makes us realize how even small actions can bring hope to others.”
Globally, the collection of blood represents a massive public health effort, with approximately 118.54 million blood donations collected each year. The patterns of blood use reflect the distinct disease burdens faced in different regions.

By donating blood, young people demonstrate their vital role in sustaining public health systems worldwide
In low-income countries, up to 54% of blood transfusions are given to children under five, mainly to treat severe anemia caused by malaria and malnutrition. In contrast, in high-income countries, 76% of transfusions are administered to patients over 60 years old, largely to support complex surgeries, organ transplants, and cancer treatments.
This contrast highlights the universal yet diverse need for safe and sufficient blood supplies - and the vital role that young donors play in sustaining public health systems worldwide.
Recently, Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW (dated September 9, 2025) by the Politburo introduced a series of breakthrough measures to enhance the protection, care, and improvement of people’s health. The resolution emphasizes the principle that “Health is the most valuable asset of every person” and calls for a strategic shift “from focusing mainly on medical examination and treatment to proactively preventing diseases, and prioritizing the protection, care, and improvement of comprehensive health.”
This message strongly resonates with the mission of “Rainbow of Kindness 2025.” By encouraging students to donate blood and understand blood safety, HaUI is contributing not only to immediate medical needs but also to Vietnam’s broader vision of building a proactive, community-based, and preventive healthcare system.
HaUI students are showing that building a culture of kindness and responsibility begins with simple yet powerful acts - like giving blood. Through this initiative, they are helping ensure safe blood supplies and nurturing a spirit of humanitarian values that will carry into their future careers and communities.
