Enhancing English proficiency for global integration: HaUI sends 22 lecturers to the Philippines for English-Medium Instruction training
In the context of deepening global integration, English-medium instruction (EMI) has become not only an educational trend but also a strategic imperative for enhancing international collaboration, expanding access to global knowledge, and fostering adaptability in transnational academic environments. With a strong commitment to innovation and internationalization, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) is taking decisive steps to strengthen the professional competencies of its academic staff.
From July 22 to August 18, 2025, a cohort of 22 lecturers from HaUI is participating in an intensive English training course in the Philippines. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the University’s strategy to internationalize its faculty and improve the quality of English-taught programs, which are scheduled to commence enrollment from the 2025–2026 academic year.
A Strategic Initiative Toward Educational Excellence
On July 21, HaUI held a formal meeting between the University’s leadership and the participating lecturers prior to their departure. Addressing the delegation, Dr. Kieu Xuan Thuc – Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, affirmed: “Utilizing English as a medium of instruction is an indispensable requirement in the era of globalization. Enhancing the capabilities of academic staff is an urgent and long-term strategic priority for HaUI. The lecturers attending this course are not merely advancing their personal competencies, but are also representing HaUI’s resolute transformation toward an internationally aligned educational environment, in which English-medium instruction is a cornerstone.”

The one-month training program in the Philippines is designed to strengthen lecturers’ academic English proficiency, facilitate exposure to contemporary teaching methodologies, and develop their ability to deliver specialized content effectively in English. This comprehensive training is an essential preparatory step to support the implementation of ten English-medium academic programs beginning in the upcoming academic year.

Ms. Dinh Thi Kim Phuong, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Embedded Systems and Microelectronics, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, remarked: “HaUI’s continuous investment in international training programs for academic staff reflects its strong commitment to educational reform and global integration. For us as lecturers, acquiring English proficiency is not simply learning a new language, but unlocking new realms of knowledge and opportunities for ourselves and for our students.”

The selected lecturers are expected to serve as core contributors to our EMI programs and to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the institution.”
