CCESD 2025: Chemistry and chemical engineering for sustainable development
On May 24, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) successfully hosted the 2nd National Scientific Conference on “Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Development (CCESD 2025)”.The conference convened a diverse assembly of scientists, scholars, industry leaders, and educators from both Vietnam and abroad, fostering a vibrant platform for intellectual exchange and joint efforts in addressing global challenges.
In the opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Mai Huong, Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology, Hanoi University of Industry, emphasized the significance of the event amid pressing global issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental pollution. She noted that this year’s conference received 110 abstracts, with 91 full papers selected for publication in the Journal of Science and Technology of the University, demonstrating the strong interest and active participation of the scientific community.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Mai Huong highlighted that the conference serves not only as a platform for academic exchange but also as a bridge between research and practical application, contributing to the implementation of the Party’s resolutions on scientific and technological advancement, innovation, and national digital transformation.

The plenary session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Sc. Tran Van Sung, former Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Journal of Chemistry and former Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Professorial Council for Chemistry – Food Technology
The conference attracted an impressive lineup of renowned scientists, including Prof. Dr. Sc. Tran Vinh Dieu (Phenikaa Research and Technology Institute, Phenikaa University), Prof. Dr. Tran Dai Lam (Director of the Institute of Materials Science), Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Viet (VNU University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Minh Hai (National University of Singapore – NUS). Their participation, together with that of a broad network of scholars, researchers, and industry experts in chemistry, environmental science, and technology, underscored the event’s academic prestige and its role as a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Viet presented his research on “Modernizing Traditional Remedies in the Northwestern Region of Vietnam”, proposing promising directions in the development of safe and effective medicinal products, especially for liver protection
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Minh Hai offered an international perspective through his presentation on “Circular Economy Technologies”, introducing creative solutions to convert waste into high-value products, optimize clean production processes, and conserve energy, thereby contributing to a green economy.
CCESD 2025 highlighted Hanoi University of Industry’s leading role and strong academic reputation in scientific research, especially in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
