HaUI expands cooperation with Shega prefecture's Asian economic research association and Nagahama city business association
On May 21, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) welcomed a delegation from Shega prefecture's Asian economic research association and Nagahama city business association. The meeting, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of HaUI, focused on exploring potential collaboration in high-quality workforce development.
Overview of the meeting
At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong provided an overview of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), one of Vietnam’s leading public universities with an applied education focus. In response to the evolving governance model for higher education, HaUI has established five member schools: School of Foreign Languages and Tourism, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Economics, and School of Information and Communication Technology. Currently, HaUI offers 62 undergraduate programs across a diverse range of disciplines. The university offers strong academic programs in Japanese Linguistics, Korean Linguistics, Chinese Linguistics, and English Linguistics. These programs provide students with both language proficiency and a solid foundation in linguistic theory and intercultural communication, preparing them to thrive in today’s increasingly globalized workforce.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong highlighted HaUI’s distinctive integrated model of university, research institutes, and enterprise partnerships. A key example is LETCO, a company under HaUI that connects students with job opportunities in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and China. Thousands of HaUI students are currently studying and working in Japan, with some companies employing HaUI alumni as up to 40% of their workforce. He expressed hope that Japanese partners would continue to support HaUI’s academic programs by sharing advanced production technologies, providing scholarships, and facilitating faculty and student exchange programs.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Otsuka Keiichiro, Chairman of the Nagahama City Business Association, thanked HaUI for the warm hospitality. He praised the university’s training quality and facilities, noting that many delegates were impressed by the professionalism and skills demonstrated by HaUI students during previous visits. Mr. Otsuka emphasized the desire of Japanese enterprises to deepen their understanding of HaUI’s academic offerings and to engage directly with its faculty and students in pursuit of meaningful, long-term cooperation.
This visit served as a valuable opportunity for both sides to strengthen mutual understanding and identify new avenues for collaboration in training, technology transfer, and human resource development. HaUI reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Japanese businesses in cultivating a highly skilled workforce, ready to meet the evolving demands of the global job market.
