Igniting Passion for Language and Innovation: A Look at the 2025 Chinese language Talent Contest
The 2025 “Chinese Language Talent” Contest marked the seventh season of this prestigious academic competition, which has become a much-anticipated annual event for students passionate about the Chinese language from universities and colleges across Northern Vietnam. More than just a contest, the event offers a vibrant platform for academic exchange, inspires a love for language learning, and contributes to improving training quality while equipping students with the skills needed for global integration.
Looking Ahead: AI – Opportunities and Challenges
With the timely and thought-provoking theme “Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges of the Future”, this year’s contest was hosted by Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI). The event created an engaging academic playground where students could showcase not only their Chinese language abilities but also essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
The contest carried a powerful message: “Wisdom fuels innovation, and cooperation paves the way to success. Let us come together, harness our intellect, and light the way forward.” This served as a strong motivation for students to pursue knowledge and embrace the spirit of a young generation ready for the challenges of a technology-driven world.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cam Tu Tai, Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Language at School of Foreign Languages and Tourism (under Hanoi University of Industry), delivered the opening remarks.
A Showcase of Talent and Creativity
Following a competitive preliminary round with numerous impressive entries, eight outstanding teams advanced to the final round. These teams represented: Hung Vuong University, University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Phenikaa University, Hanoi Pedagogical University No. 2, Hanoi University, Thu Do University, Dai Nam University, and the host team from the School of Foreign Languages and Tourism – Hanoi University of Industry.
The final competition consisted of two segments:
Talent Showcase: Each team had 5 minutes to creatively introduce their university or explore the topic of AI through artistic performances such as singing, acting, dancing, or presentations. Judging criteria included creativity, content quality, and presentation skills.
Situational Roleplay: Teams presented short skits tackling real-life issues related to AI, demonstrating their language proficiency, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Scenarios ranged from career planning and academic stress to family dynamics and the influence of social media in the AI era.
Celebrating Excellence
At the conclusion of a vibrant and emotionally charged competition, the Organizing Committee proudly announced the award winners:
The First Prize was awarded to School of Foreign Languages and Tourism, Hanoi University of Industry
Second Prizes were presented to Hung Vuong University and Hanoi Pedagogical University 2
Third Prizes went to Phenikaa University and University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi
Consolation Prizes were awarded to Hanoi University, Hanoi Metropolitan University, and Dai Nam University
The Audience Choice Award was presented to School of Foreign Languages and Tourism – Hanoi University of Industry
Linking Theory with Practice – Preparing Students for the Future
The choice of artificial intelligence as this year’s theme reflects the Organizing Committee’s forward-thinking vision and commitment to modernizing language education by integrating academic knowledge with real-world applications.
At Hanoi University of Industry, the Chinese Language major offered by the School of Foreign Languages and Tourism is emerging as one of the university’s key programs. The curriculum is aligned with international standards and offers flexible, diverse study options such as: 3+1 program (Three years in Vietnam and one year in China), 2+2 program (Two years in each country, leading to dual degrees).
Remarkably, over 95% of graduates from the program secure employment immediately upon graduation, thanks to strong industry connections with leading companies such as Foxconn, AAC, and Compal.
Beyond academics, the competition is part of a broad range of extracurricular activities offered to Chinese Language students at HaUI, including academic clubs, cultural exchanges, career seminars, and international collaborations. These experiences help students develop essential skills such as teamwork, communication, negotiation, critical thinking, and adaptability alongside language proficiency.
HaUI fosters an environment where students gain hands-on experience, learn from peers, showcase their talents, and build a strong foundation for future success. The growing demand for qualified Chinese-speaking professionals in science, technology, and commerce aligns with the expanding strategic partnership between Vietnam and China across economic, cultural, and educational domains.
The 2025 “Chinese Language Talent” competition at Hanoi University of Industry stood out not only as a showcase of linguistic excellence but also as a meaningful platform for intellectual exploration and cultural exchange. By engaging with the contemporary theme of artificial intelligence, the competition encouraged participants to demonstrate more than just language proficiency. It fostered critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills which are essential for navigating the complexities of a rapidly changing world.
Moreover, the event reflected the university’s strong commitment to integrating academic training with real-world challenges. Therefore, students are equipped not only with linguistic competence but also with the adaptability and global awareness required in today’s interconnected society. As the competition drew to a close, it left a lasting impressionnot just through awards and recognition, but through its role in inspiring a new generation of confident, capable, and forward-looking young people who are ready to contribute meaningfully to the future.
