HaUI engages students with VEX-U Robotics 2025: A gateway to global robotics competitions
VEX-U Robotics is one of the world’s most prestigious and large-scale student robotics competitions, bringing together hundreds of elite university teams from more than 50 countries. It provides a highly competitive international arena where teams are required to integrate expertise in mechanics, electronics, and programming, while fostering creativity, problem-solving ability, and teamwork.

Overview of the program
The “VEX-U Robotics 2025 Kick-off” program, hosted by Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), welcomed distinguished guests from VEX/IFI Asia, the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation Asia Pacific (RECF Asia Pacific), the Vietnam Robotics Education and Competition Organization (VREC), as well as HaUI’s faculty members and students. The event marked the beginning of a new and challenging season, reaffirming HaUI’s commitment to providing high-quality academic platforms that nurture and empower young talents in automation and robotics, thereby contributing to the training of a highly skilled workforce for the nation.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology, delivered a speech at the program
In the opening remarks, Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology, emphasized that VEX-U Robotics 2025 represents a technological arena as well as a meaningful platform for students to unleash creativity, transform theoretical knowledge into practical innovations, and develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork, all of which are vital for their future careers.

Mr. Andy Lee, Representative of VEX/IFI Asia, delivered his remarks at the program
The VEX-U 2025 season, themed “Push Back,” is anticipated to deliver both intellectually rigorous and highly engaging competitions. Within this framework, robots are required to collect and score by maneuvering polygonal blocks into two distinct types of goals on a standardized 3.6m x 3.6m field. Each match comprises a 30-second autonomous phase governed entirely by pre-programmed algorithms, followed by a 90-second period of direct student control. This structure necessitates the development of adaptive strategies that integrate precision in automated performance with proficiency in manual operation.

Ms. Tran Thi Thao, Representative of the Vietnam Robotics Education and Competition Organization (VREC), provided an overview of the competition
The worldwide reach of VEX Robotics significantly enhances its academic and professional relevance. In Vietnam, the most recent national championship brought together 156 teams with the participation of more than 3,500 students and educators. On the international stage, the VEX World Championship is regarded as a premier global forum for technological innovation, where the most outstanding teams compete and showcase their expertise. Engagement in such a distinguished arena offers HaUI students not only the opportunity to expand their knowledge and exchange experiences but also to affirm their competence and position within the global academic and technological community.

Mr. Vu Quang Hung, Representative of the Asia Pacific Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF Asia Pacific), provided insights into the competition rules, strategies, and related aspects

Mr. Hoang Van Dong, Representative of Kidscode, the official distributor of VEX in Vietnam, presented the competition equipment and components and introduced an engaging virtual VEX demonstration, providing students with a clear and practical perspective on robotics technology in VEX-U
HaUI’s passion for robotics has been nurtured over many years through its impressive track record in Robocon competitions. In 2008, team FEE02 made history by winning the national championship and receiving the “Best Idea Award” at the international arena. Continuing this legacy, in 2023, team DCN-DT 02 proudly brought home the Vietnam Robocon Championship and went on to claim third place as well as the “Best Engineering Award” at the ABU Robocon in Cambodia. These milestones highlight the university’s strong training quality, creativity, and enduring spirit of innovation, which now provide a solid springboard for HaUI’s VEX-U teams to step confidently onto the global stage.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, Deputy Head of the Department of Science and Technology, presented commemorative gifts to partners and experts who have accompanied the university in advancing the development of the Robotics movement
Looking ahead, with thorough preparation and the vibrant engagement of its students, the HaUI VEX-U Robotics 2025 Intramural Competition promises to be an inspiring platform to discover and nurture the best talent. The most outstanding team will earn the honor of representing HaUI at the national championship in Thailand in January 2026.
