Pioneering the green future: HaUI collaborates with VinFast to train Next-Gen EV experts

On the morning of January 12, 2026, the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on educational cooperation between Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) and VinFast Trading and Production LLC marked a pivotal milestone in the relationship between the nation’s premier technical institution and Vietnam’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer. The HaUI delegation, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of the University, officially formalized the agreement.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Hai, Director of Global Aftersales Operations Division 1 at VinFast, underscored the imperative of developing a workforce possessing profound expertise in electric vehicle (EV) technology. Citing that EVs accounted for over 40% of the domestic automotive market share by 2025, he asserted that the formal higher education system requires rapid adaptation to align with the exponential pace of technological advancement.

Under the stipulations of the agreement, VinFast commits to an in-kind sponsorship to HaUI, comprising electric vehicles and standardized technical learning materials to facilitate teaching and research activities. Both parties reached a consensus to integrate the module "Basic VinFast EV Repair Techniques" into the formal curriculum of the Automotive Engineering Technology program. Furthermore, VinFast will implement "Train-the-Trainer" initiatives aimed at enhancing the practical competencies of the University's faculty.

Mr. Hoang Manh Cuong, Director of Global Aftersales Operations Division 2, elaborated that the collaborative program is systematically structured over a 3-year roadmap, focusing on three core modules: basic maintenance, high-voltage battery system handling, and advanced diagnostics. Upon completion, students will be awarded certification, thereby unlocking employment opportunities across VinFast’s global network of 400 service centers and manufacturing facilities.

This strategic alliance enables HaUI students to gain early exposure to green technologies and international standard protocols, concretizing the University's objective of becoming a hub for high-quality human resource development while contributing actively to the national sustainable development strategy.

In its Development Strategy for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision toward 2035, HaUI identifies the "Labor Market – Enterprise – University" nexus as a core strategic implication. Consequently, the University is executing a paradigm shift from ad-hoc project-based cooperation to strategic alliances along the value chain, ultimately aiming for co-value creation for all stakeholders and society at large.
