Nguyen Tien Dat: A journey from silence to strength in academic and student leadership

Nguyen Tien Dat, a student from the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), has emerged as a shining example of self-development and academic excellence. With persistent effort in academic studies, scientific research, and youth union activities, Dat has achieved numerous accomplishments that inspire his peers and demonstrate the spirit of modern student leadership.

Hailing from Quang Ninh province, Dat initially entered HaUI as a quiet and introverted young man. He often remained in the background, hesitant to speak up or step forward. However, his transformation began through participation in scientific research and dynamic engagement in student union activities. Gradually, he evolved into a confident, enthusiastic, and proactive individual - traits that now define his leadership style and personal growth.

For Dat, learning is a journey of “self-exploration and independent study.” He consistently seeks guidance from lecturers and senior students, maintaining a resilient mindset and a calm, strategic approach to challenges. He credits his family as a crucial source of motivation and emotional support, enabling him to set clear goals and remain grounded. Guided by the belief in “constantly surpassing one's limits,” Dat pursues his ambitions with unwavering dedication and passion.

At the 2024 International Conference on Engineering Research and Applications (ICERA), Dat had the honor of co-authoring the paper titled “Application of Finite Element Method to Analyze the Structure of Leaf Spring Assembly on Hyundai County.” The study was published in a prestigious international journal, reflecting his solid research capabilities and genuine interest in automotive engineering. In addition, he has co-authored two more research papers in the field, demonstrating a systematic approach to research and deep engagement with his chosen discipline.

Dat’s academic achievements are equally impressive. He maintains a GPA of 3.4/4 and earned a score of 9.4 for his graduation project defense. His accolades include First Prize in the University-level Scientific Research Contest (2022–2023), a Consolation Prize in the 2023–2024 academic year, Second Prize at the SMAE Engineering Festival 2024, and Second Prize in the EnglishWorks 2024 competition. Furthermore, he has received full scholarships in semesters 1, 4, and 6, and was honored as a “Typical Young Face 2024” and “Outstanding Five-Good Student” for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024).

Most recently, Dat was among 300 exemplary students nationwide selected to participate in a dialogue with the Prime Minister of Vietnam - a testament to his leadership potential and civic engagement
