Connecting students with Korean industry: HaUI and Daeduk University deepen partnership

Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Daeduk University (South Korea), establishing a strategic framework for academic exchange, paid internships, and direct employment pathways into the South Korean labor market. The agreement further expands HaUI’s international network in South Korea, reinforcing its institutional commitment to bridging the gap between higher education and industry demands.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Thien, Vice President of HaUI, underscored that the university places top priority on international partnerships, particularly with reputable South Korean institutions. He noted that both universities share an applied educational philosophy aligned with industry demands, creating a solid foundation for enduring cooperation.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the two institutions will promote academic and cultural exchange by facilitating reciprocal visits for undergraduate students, graduate researchers, and faculty members. In addition, they will pursue joint scientific research, organize academic conferences and symposia, and share scholarly materials. The agreement also commits both parties to collaboratively designing and expanding integrated training programs that meet international standards.

A defining highlight of this partnership is workforce development via the RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) project spearheaded by Daeduk University. Operating on a triple-helix model that connects local government, academia, and industry, the initiative enables qualified students to participate in paid internships in South Korea and transition into full-time employment post-graduation. Dr. Thien praised this approach as a practical breakthrough that directly aligns academic output with the evolving needs of the global job market.

Prof. Kim Nam Yoon, representing Daeduk University, highlighted that the institution is building a dedicated support framework for international students, linked with approximately 280 partner businesses in technical and engineering fields. Students selected for the initiative will receive full preparation, ranging from specialized coursework and Korean language proficiency to internship arrangements and employment opportunities, giving them practical corporate experience before graduation.

Dr. Nguyen Van Thien expressed his expectation that the Memorandum of Understanding would soon be translated into concrete programmes and activities, creating practical benefits for students, faculty members, businesses and both universities.

The signing ceremony was followed by a seminar highlighting study and internship opportunities in the Republic of Korea, which attracted considerable interest from students. Representatives of Daeduk University introduced its academic programmes and study pathways, covering admission requirements as well as opportunities for paid internships and employment in Korea. The seminar also provided practical guidance on Korean-language requirements, choosing an appropriate field of study and accessing industry opportunities through the university’s business network. By connecting the cooperation agreement with specific study and career pathways, the event gave students a clearer perspective on opportunities to pursue further education, gain professional experience and develop their careers in Korea.
