HaUI’s breakthrough strategy for the 2025–2030 period
As Viet Nam enters a new phase of national development characterized by intertwined opportunities and challenges, Hanoi University of Industry identifies the renewal and refinement of its development strategy as a central task to proactively adapt and achieve breakthrough progress. With the objective of aligning awareness and action among the University’s leadership and management staff, HaUI organized a training workshop to implement the Action Program of the Party Committee and to communicate strategic development objectives for the 2025–2030 period.

Overview of the event
Mr. Kieu Xuan Thuc, Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, presented a comprehensive analysis of the rapidly changing macro environment. At the international level, the global landscape is marked by the complex coexistence of globalization and increasing fragmentation and protectionism. While strategic competition among major powers continues to intensify, scientific and technological advancements are accelerating, with transformative applications in artificial intelligence, big data, and green technologies.
At the national level, newly issued policies and directives of the Party and the State have introduced pressing requirements for renewed thinking and decisive action. Prominent among these are Resolution No. 57 NQ TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation, and Resolution No. 71 NQ TW dated August 22, 2025 on breakthroughs in education and training. These strategic orientations necessitate a fundamental repositioning of higher education institutions, in which Hanoi University of Industry is expected to assume a pioneering and leading role.

Building on this foundation, Mr. Kieu Xuan Thuc outlined significant refinements to the University’s mission, vision, and core values. The mission has been repositioned from training high quality human resources to developing highly qualified human capital, reflecting evolving societal needs and affirming HaUI’s strategic transition toward a comprehensive, multidisciplinary university model. The strategic vision defines Hanoi University of Industry as a multidisciplinary institution whose academic fields meet international standards, with a long term ambition to be ranked among the world’s top 400 to 600 universities according to internationally recognized ranking systems.
To translate this vision into reality, HaUI has identified a set of strategic priorities and breakthrough initiatives. These include strengthening scientific research capacity, accelerating comprehensive internationalization, and adopting advanced governance frameworks such as ESG, encompassing environmental, social, and governance principles, and DEI, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Collectively, these initiatives aim to advance the development of a green, socially responsible university while fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive academic environment that attracts, nurtures, and retains high quality talent.
Highlighting the imperative for renewed strategic thinking in the current development phase, the President emphasized the need for a fundamental shift from a management oriented mindset focused on systems and short term control to a leadership oriented approach centered on people, vision, and long term value creation. Institutional culture was identified as a critical enabler for embedding core values into daily practice. Values such as service and responsibility embody humanistic principles, while creativity and integration reflect intellectual openness and a commitment to innovation. Organizational culture is therefore regarded as a decisive factor in shaping a distinctive and renewed HaUI identity throughout the 2025–2030 strategic period.
Guided by the philosophy of comprehensive education for sustainable development and global integration, Hanoi University of Industry is undergoing continuous transformation, aspiring to become a multidisciplinary university of international standing and a leading hub for scientific research, technology transfer, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
