Scholarships light the way for HaUI and EPU students overcoming hardship

On September 18, 2025, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) hosted a scholarship ceremony for disadvantaged yet high-achieving students from HaUI and Electric Power University (EPU).

The event was organized by the Industry and Trade Newspaper in collaboration with the two universities, with generous sponsorship from educator Đao Kim Oanh, Chairwoman of the Board at Luong The Vinh Secondary & High School.

The program awarded five scholarships worth 10 million VND each, funded entirely by Ms. Oanh’s personal contributions. Beyond financial support, each scholarship symbolized recognition and encouragement, reflecting the trust and hope of the older generation in today’s youth.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Duong, Head of the Readers and Social Affairs Department at the Industry and Trade Newspaper, emphasized the newspaper’s long-standing role in connecting philanthropists with students in need.

“Today’s ceremony is a vivid example of that meaningful connection,” he said. “We are honored to accompany Ms. Đao Kim Oanh and the universities to inspire students on their path of learning.”

Visiting HaUI for the first time, Ms. Oanh expressed her admiration for the university’s 127-year history and encouraged students to see the scholarship as motivation to strive harder and be proud of their school.

Dr. Nguyen Van Thien, Vice Rector of HaUI, emotionally shared that he was once a student of Ms. Oanh’s late husband, renowned teacher Van Nhu Cuong. He thanked the sponsors and affirmed HaUI’s commitment to ensuring that “no student is left behind.”

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Nguyen Thi Hong Hue, an Accounting student at HaUI, said the scholarship was not only financial support but also a powerful source of motivation to study harder and pursue her dreams.
