The first International Conference on Sustainability and Emerging Technologies for Smart Manufacturing (SETSM 2024)

On April 26th, the first International Conference on Sustainability and Emerging Technologies for Smart Manufacturing 2024 (SETSM 2024) took place at Hanoi University of Industry. The event garnered significant attention from the scientific community.

SETSM 2024 served as a specialized forum for researchers, experts, and businesses to share the latest advancements in sustainable technology and smart manufacturing.

The conference focused on discussing new trends and the application of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and other advanced manufacturing methods to optimize production processes, minimize waste, and enhance productivity.

Overview of the event

2024 marks a new era in science and technology, with the emergence of major software systems such as large-scale artificial intelligence models like ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and prominent systems like smart manufacturing, flexible manufacturing, and lean manufacturing. In this context, sustainable and emerging technologies for smart manufacturing demonstrate the crucial intersection of innovation and responsibility, addressing global challenges while opening up new opportunities for economic growth and competitiveness.

SETSM 2024 attracted the participation of hundreds of scientists from 11 countries

At the opening session, Assoc. Prof. Pham Van Dong - Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Industry, welcomed experts, speakers, researchers, and guests to the conference. He shared his hopes that through this conference, scientists would share achievements, new discoveries, breakthrough ideas, foster significant advancements to promote sustainable development, initiate internationally competitive products and services, collectively create opportunities, and promote sustainable development in the future.

SETSM 2024 garnered significant attention from the international research community, with the participation of scientists from 11 countries and territories including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, the Czech Republic, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Bangladesh, South Africa, and Vietnam. This not only demonstrates the diversity and global scale of the conference but also shows the interest and desire for cooperation on a broad scientific platform.

With over 250 submissions received (of which 38% were papers from international scientists), SETSM 2024 underwent a rigorous evaluation process to select the most noteworthy content and thorough review to ensure the quality and scientific rigor of the 74 accepted papers.

The conference was divided into three sessions, including two paper sessions and one poster session, each session comprising 04 parallel sections. The conference was organized in a hybrid format, combining on-site presentations and online reporting via Zoom links.

Building on the success of SETSM 2024, Hanoi University of Industry continues to be entrusted with hosting SETSM 2025. International conferences like SETSM not only promotes the development of the university but also plays a crucial role in building international cooperation relationships and enhancing Vietnam's position in the field of science and technology.
