Shaping future innovators: HaUI celebrates outstanding student research achievements
A total of 621 student research projects were successfully completed, involving 2,356 students, with 613 awards presented to 2,329 participants at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI). Notably, all First Prize-winning projects were accompanied by scientific publications, many of which appeared in prestigious ISI/Scopus-indexed journals, reflecting the growing international reach of student research at the University.
These impressive figures set the tone for The 17th Annual Conference and Award Ceremony for Student Scientific Research, held on June 25 at HaUI. The event highlighted what was described as a “golden season” of breakthrough achievements, affirming the creativity, ambition, and passion for innovation among HaUI students.

At the event, Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, provided an overview of the 2025–2026 academic year, highlighting significant achievements in student research activities. The University recorded 621 completed research projects involving 2,356 students, while a total of 613 awards were presented. These included 46 First Prizes, 108 Second Prizes, 123 Third Prizes, and 336 Consolation Prizes.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong presented awards to student Le Van Do, winner of the National Mechanics Olympiad, and other recipients of ministerial-level student research prizes.
HaUI students also continued to make their mark in national academic competitions, most notably winning three First Prizes at the National Robocon Competition, earning the right to represent Viet Nam at the Asia-Pacific finals. A key highlight of this year’s outcomes was the improved quality of research, with several First Prize projects published in internationally recognized ISI/Scopus-indexed journals, registered for intellectual property protection, or awarded at ministerial level.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Trong Chuong, Head of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Manh Kha, Rector of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, presented First Prizes to 12 outstanding research teams in composite materials, tourism, Gen Z studies, and foreign languages.
Eighteen outstanding research teams in economics, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things were awarded First Prizes by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung, Rector of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, and Dr. Dang Trong Hop, Rector of the School of Information and Communications Technology.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Le, Head of the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion Design, and Dr. Truong Thanh Hang, Vice Rector of the School of Economics, presented First Prizes to 16 outstanding teams in mechanical engineering, robotics, new energy vehicles, and autonomous vehicles.
As HaUI continues its development toward a comprehensive university model, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice President of the University, highlighted key strategic priorities, including the advancement of internationalization, an increase in the proportion of doctoral-qualified academic staff, and the enhancement of technology transfer activities and revenue generation.
He noted a significant growth in student research engagement, with the number of projects rising by 150 percent over the past five years and a completion rate surpassing 98 percent. He further emphasized that academic integrity remains a fundamental principle at HaUI, calling on both lecturers and students to firmly uphold ethical standards, eliminate all forms of plagiarism, and ensure that research is grounded in real-world needs with strong potential for application and technology transfer.

Representing young researchers, student Nguyen Thi Phuong, leader of a First Prize-winning project, expressed sincere gratitude to faculty supervisors for their dedicated guidance throughout the research process. She described the journey from initial ideas to a completed project as an ongoing process of intellectual refinement, reflecting the spirit of “Engineering - Aspiration - Creation” that defines HaUI students.

A total award fund of 992 million VND was presented to outstanding students, alongside nearly 2.1 billion VND allocated to support qualified research projects. The event highlighted a remarkable “golden season” for student research at HaUI, marking new opportunities for innovation and academic excellence.
