Unlocking the potential of Chinese Language Studies in the era of AI and digital transformation
the 3rd International Scientific Conference on Chinese Language and Chinese Studies, organized by School of Languages and Tourism, Hanoi University of Industry, successfully transformed traditional linguistic discourse into a forward-looking technological dialogue. Empowered by more than 230 contributions from experts worldwide, the gathering confronted the immediate realities of digital transformation and mapped out innovative, cross-disciplinary pathways for Chinese Studies.

The conference achieved an impressive milestone by securing 230 submissions from researchers and students across the globe. It successfully convened academic leaders from China’s most prestigious universities, such as Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and East China Normal University. On the domestic front, the event built a comprehensive academic bridge by welcoming premier institutions like Vietnam National University and Hanoi University, uniting them with dozens of colleges to foster a highly connected research community.

A key highlight of the conference was its strong emphasis on the application of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in teaching, translation, and interpretation. In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cam Tu Tai, Dean of the Faculty of Chinese Language, underscored that the research presented not only aligns with the innovation-oriented strategy of Hanoi University of Industry but also keeps pace with global integration trends.

The conference topics extended beyond traditional methodologies, exploring cutting-edge areas such as the development of digital corpora and technology-based Chinese language proficiency assessment; interdisciplinary research integrating Sinology with history, anthropology, and cultural studies; and the university–industry collaboration model aimed at aligning education with labor market demands in the new era.

The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable development of the Faculty of Chinese Language. The Faculty has established a comprehensive education system ranging from undergraduate to master’s and doctoral programs in Chinese Language, alongside a bachelor’s program in Chinese Studies. The annual international conference series, maintained since 2022, further demonstrates the University’s commitment to enhancing the depth and quality of academic research.
The event marked a forward-looking milestone, inspiring anticipation for new research outputs that will help shape the future of Chinese language studies in an era defined by globalization and the rise of artificial intelligence.
