“Warm Winter for the Highlands”: HaUI Youth bring sustainable hope to Tan Mai

From January 20-22, 2026, a volunteer convoy from Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) travelled to Tan Mai commune, Phu Tho province, carrying winter supplies and the energy, aspirations, and compassion of young people committed to making a lasting difference.

With a total contribution of VND 230 million, the “Warm Winter for the Highlands” campaign transformed material support into something greater: clean water, safer roads, improved learning conditions, and renewed confidence for the local community. More importantly, it was a journey filled with trust, shared responsibility, and the belief that kindness can be built to last.

Against the cold winter backdrop, the green volunteer shirts of HaUI students became a familiar sight throughout Tan Mai. Unlike conventional charity trips that focus mainly on short-term relief, this year’s campaign embraced a new spirit - the spirit of creation and sustainability.

Rather than simply giving, HaUI’s volunteers worked alongside local residents to deliver long-term solutions that directly address daily challenges in education and living conditions. The initiative included:

- One Youth Project: Clean Water Well, providing safe and stable access to clean water

- Two “Lighting Up Rural Roads” Projects, improving safety and mobility at night

- Two 50-inch Smart TVs to support teaching and learning at local schools

- 160 gift packages for students and 20 support packages for policy-beneficiary families

Together, these projects represented a total investment of VND 230,000,000, translated into tangible improvements for the community.

Throughout the journey, Mr. Nguyen Van Thien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of HaUI, accompanied the students and shared a deeply human perspective. He emphasized that HaUI’s presence in Tan Mai was not simply a charitable act, but an expression of the university’s educational philosophy.

According to him, social responsibility is an essential part of higher education. By engaging directly with communities, students learn that knowledge only becomes truly meaningful when it serves people and contributes to improving lives. These real-world experiences help shape character, empathy, and civic awareness - qualities no classroom alone can fully nurture.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Do Minh Hien, Secretary of the HaUI Youth Union, noted that every project completed was the result of collective effort from university leaders, faculty members, and students.

The campaign did not merely distribute gifts; it partnered with the local community to build sustainable value, turning young people’s aspirations to contribute into concrete benefits for residents and schoolchildren alike.

As the “Warm Winter for the Highlands 2025” journey came to an end, what remained were smiles, bright eyes, and a quiet but powerful sense of hope. The VND 230 million donated had been transformed into clean water, illuminated roads, better classrooms, and dreams given room to grow.

For HaUI students, this journey was more than a volunteer trip - it was a reminder of why they learn, why they serve, and why they continue to nurture the desire to contribute. Step by step, they carry forward the spirit of creation, committed to building a kinder, more sustainable society.
