Developing high-quality human resources in key technology sectors: Unlocking a new strategic direction in the partnership between Hanoi University of Industry (Vietnam) and Nanning Normal University (China)

On the morning of December 9th, Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) held an important working session with a delegation from Nanning Normal University (NNU), China. This event took place as HaUI strengthens its pivotal role as a key higher education institution designated to train human resources for advanced technology sectors, such as the semiconductor industry. The signing of the MOU between the two parties is not just a new milestone in academic diplomacy but also opens up a crucial strategic roadmap for collaborative training and in-depth research in AI, electronics, and new materials, aiming to develop high-quality human resources in the region.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pham Van Dong, Vice Rector of HaUI, highlighted the University's solid position built upon 127 years of history and its advanced university governance model, which includes specialized constituent schools such as the School of Foreign Languages & Tourism, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. A standout strength of HaUI is its ecosystem for practical training, established through close cooperation with a network of thousands of corporate partners globally. This network encompasses leading technology corporations from China and Taiwan, such as Foxconn, Luxshare, and Goertek, which ensures high quality graduates and post-graduation employment opportunities for students.

Ms. Long Nina, Vice Rector of Nanning Normal University, expressed deep admiration for the scale and facilities of HaUI. She shared that although NNU carries the name 'Normal' (Sư phạm), it is actually a comprehensive university with 22 academies and possesses outstanding strengths in natural sciences.

The in-depth discussion centered on establishing a cooperation mechanism for scientific research and postgraduate training in the coming period. Mr. Chen Dong, Dean of the School of Physics and Electronics, NNU, reported that his unit operates key laboratories for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and has strong international publishing capabilities, producing dozens of SCI papers annually. He proposed setting up a mechanism for co-supervising PhD candidates, faculty exchange, and collaborative research projects focused on electronics, automation, and new materials.

Furthermore, leaders from both institutions agreed on a flexible 2+2 joint training model, where students could potentially receive funding sponsorship from businesses. This model aims to ensure that graduates can immediately meet the demand for high-quality human resources proficient in both professional expertise and local culture. The scope of cooperation was also expanded to include other potential fields such as Logistics, Tourism Management, and Chinese Language.

Upon the successful completion of the working agenda, Hanoi University of Industry and Nanning Normal University formally solidified their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The signing ceremony officially affirmed their commitment to the joint development of high-quality human resources, thereby contributing to the regional common prosperity.

Demonstrating the vitality of this effective partnership, HaUI has already sent 17 students majoring in Chinese Language to NNU for a 3-month study course in 2025. Reciprocally, Hanoi University of Industry has welcomed a total of 51 students from NNU over the past two years, which includes 35 students in 2024 and 16 students in 2025.
