Approval of the research study “The synthesis of Guanabenz substance for high blood pressure medication”

On 13/07/2017, the University held an appraisal and approval meeting for the 2016 university-level research study titled “The synthesis of Guanabenz substance for high blood pressure medication” led by Dr. Hoang Thanh Duc – Department of Science and Technology.

Dr. Hoang Thanh Duc, representing the research team, is reporting the findings of the study before the review panel.

The objective of the study is to establish a procedure for synthesizing Guanabenz substance as an ingredient for high blood pressure medication to combat the increasingly complex issue of high blood pressure disease in Vietnam.

The study was successful in discovering a procedure for synthesizing the Guanabenz substance without the use of hazardous solvents commonly found in several current common Guanabenz sysnthesis practices. The synthesis procedure of Guanabenz established by the authors is fairly simple, convenient and practical and yields high quality output. Over 80% of the Guanabenz produced meet the USP-30 standard for medical substances and can be used as an ingredient for high blood pressure drugs.

The review board highly values the scientific and practical significance of the studies. The review board awarded the study the High Distinction grade.
