On 21-22 August 2012, the Project organized the pilot skill test on machining center operation as the main event under Output 2.

10 students of VJC’s machinery processing course participated in two-day skill test.In the opening ceremony, officials of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and the General Department of Vocational Training (GDVT), the chairman of Japan Business Association Vietnam, representatives from Japanese enterprises, and representatives of JICA participated.On the first day of the skill test, 10 examinees took the theory test and the written part of practical test which covers programming, calculation of off-set amount of work pierce coordination, and selection of appropriate tools according to the cutting process.On the second day, they took the test on the machining part of practical test which covers program input, cutter path check, dry-run, machining, measurement and 5S.Representatives from PENTAX Vietnam, Panasonic Institute of Manufacturing, Takagi Vietnam, and Maruka Vietnam came to observe the practical test.
With technical assistance from JICA experts, HaUI developed the theory and practical test questions, the assessment criteria, and the implementation guidelines, which will be useful assets for HaUI, who is planning to apply for a national skill test center.In the closing ceremony, Mr. Tran Duc Quy, Rector reconfirmed that HaUI would further improve them for implementing the national-level skill test in the future under the supervision of the GDVT and MOIT.
